Ajay Devgn & R Madhavan’s Shaitaan has emerged as the first bonafide hit of Bollywood this year. Here’s all you need to know!
Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, has finally achieved the much-awaited verdict at the Indian box office. Yes, you guess it right! The film has finally become a clean Hit, thus turning out to be the first film of Bollywood to enjoy the feat in 2024. The feat has been unleashed on the auspicious occasion of the Holi holiday, and here’s all you need to know.
Before the beginning of 2024, Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter was touted to be the first clean Hit for Bollywood of the year. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen as despite raking in a good collection, the film couldn’t fetch the status of clean success due to its exorbitant price tag. On the other hand, the Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan starrer has emerged as a dark horse.
Ever since Shaitaan arrived at the Indian box office on 8th March, the momentum has been strong. As the content found appreciation from the audience, regular healthy jumps were witnessed during each weekend. Other than that, a good hold was displayed during weekdays, which helped this horror thriller cover distance at the box office.
As per the latest update, Shaitaan amassed 132.25 crores in 18 days in India. Considering the reported budget of 65 crores, the film is enjoying an ROI (return on investment) of 67.25 crores after removing the cost from the collection. After further calculation, we can see that the film stands at 103.46% returns.
As per the box office parameters of Koimoi, any film that enjoys returns of 100% or more but is below 150% is considered to be a Hit. So, by that rule, Shaitaan got a Hit verdict. From Bollywood, it’s the first film to achieve the feat this year. Speaking of Hindi films, which also include dubbed versions of South Indian films, HanuMan was the first film in 2024 to enjoy the Hit verdict. To know more, visit the profitable films chart.
